TALKING TO MYSELF

Talking to myself

Ever the idealist I tend to espouse certain qualities that are somehow easily cast aside, by most, and by myself. Sometimes it takes the earth shaking to wake me up. Sometimes it is an easy sunset or a break in the clouds showing that there is still blue behind the gray that brings me back and reminds me what it is I am striving for, what it is I admire, and what it is I lack, or at least what I can work on. This morning on my drive to work, it was a song.

It's not that I forget completely what's important to me, but I do forget to acknowledge the driving force behind all I do. There are those qualities that our friends exhibit, or our family members, that are quiet reminders that there is more within us to portray than that of the what the day to day necessitates.

Those certain qualities that I mentioned above lead me to this list

Integrity, Kindness, Artistry, Intellect, Ethics, Hard Work, Earnestness, Humor, Vision, Follow Through, Acts of Service, Compassion, Dreaming, Commitment, Out of the Box Thinking, Adaptability, Friendship, Sacrifice, Love, Desire, Ability, Excellence, Raw Talent, Personality, A Desire to Better Oneself, Contribution, etc.

Driving down the street this morning I checked in. Am I living to my potential? Am I in alignment with the qualities I espouse? While I believe that those answers unfold over a lifetime, it is always good to check in.I encourage you to make your list and see what's true for you.

And if you need a song to unwind you, that may just cause that same spontaneous reflection that led us here, listen to Flume by Bon Iver, For Emma Forever Ago.
